Authentic Sioux Indian Art at the Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center

Not much makes me angrier than seeing 'Native American Art' stamped 'Made in China.' The Sioux are a Proud people who create some unique and beautiful hand crafted items. Some of the proceeds from sales of their art go to help their own families, and people. Pine Ridge Reservation is a Sioux Reservation. If you have never been there, I can tell you that it is like visiting a third world country. Pine Ridge Reservation has some extremely talented artists. Sioux Artists are not limited to the Reservations, however. There are some unfortunate Native Americans who, out of desperation, end up selling their valued crafts to the pawn shops and getting only a fraction of their value.Thankfully, there are some organizations, and shops that do give back to the community as well as credit the artists who offer the talent. I've been working with the Sioux for a long time, and I have come to discover some diamonds in the rough when it comes to Native American Art Shops.
