The Fig, An Early Cultivated Plant  

The Fig is one of the first plants cultivated by humans. Some subfossil figs were found in an early neolithic village in the Jordan Valley, dating to the time about 9400 - 9200 BC, which predates the domestication of wheat or legumes.Thus you can say, figs are valued as a fruit since prehistoric times. Once they were a delicacy, enjoyed by emperors, at other times they were the basic food of slaves.
