Grandparents have the awesome ability to make amazing differences in children's lives by doing what comes naturally. My most precious memories of Childhood are about being at my Grandma's house. It helped shape who I am.Grandparents are at a time in life when they have pretty much explored the 'excitement' of life. They have had extensive experience with children, including making mistakes. Grandma and Grandpa can look at the big picture and in fun, subtle ways, bestow that knowledge and wisdom on the children. We are more 'laid back' now, and the children sense that, they enjoy that.Grandparents are part of the 'Team'. If the child has Mom and/or Dad, then they are in the team. Aunts, Uncles, other family members, often part of the team. Believe it or not...friends can be part of the team. You may be the Leader of the team (raising your Grandchildren), or you may be a helper and cheerleader (kids stay at your house weekends, etc.) No matter what position you hold on the team, you will have a profound impact on your Grandchildren.Remember that as our Grandchildren grow, Our relationship with them changes. Teenagers aren't much into spending much time at the Grandparent's home. Enjoy the little ones while they still think Grandma's house is cool!
